Called Out of the Darkness

1 Peter 2:9  But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nationa people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light

If you have been saved by Jesus Christ, by His one time atonement where He has forgiven you all of your sins, there is more Good News, you have been called out of darkness (sin).  This calling out is called sanctification, you have been set apart by God in Christ.

This is no slight circumstance, being called out of the darkness is your whole life has changed.  For some depending on God’s will and purpose, this will be immediate and drastic changes, for some it will be gradual but in both cases there is a drastic change.

Some though never left their idols, never left the darkness, and claim they have been saved. Sadly, they have been deceived.  John MacArthur once said “if you thought you were a Christian because you said you were, no one could be deceived!”.  That’s the whole point Satan’s deception, to make sinners believe they are Christians when they aren’t.  He uses everything at his disposal, guilt, social virtue signaling, subjective goodness, vain religiosity, etc.

If you did not leave the world, its idols, if you have no desire to share the Gospel, if your desires are just as they were before your Christianity claim, more than likely you have been deceived.  Going to church on Sundays, posting Bible verses on Facebook are not evidence of saving faith.  One mark that is needed is repentance, meaning your separation from your old life has taken hold! If you are going on as business as usual, no desire to leave anything, no desire to permanently change your ways, and using God as a prop for your popularity, you aren’t His worker, but Satan’s worker.

If you have been called out of the darkness by God, saved by His Son Jesus Christ, there is NO doubt in your mind. Jesus does NOT half save a sinner, or do things halfway or a quarter of the way. He saves completely.  It is either a FULL REDEMPTION or none at all in your life.  If God has pulled you out of your sins, there is just rejoicing in humility for what He has done and the extreme desire to share His Good News!
